Online ordering without the apps: Owner.com, ChowNow, Menufy and AZ

Every option here beats paying DoorDash 15 to 30% on your regulars. The real differences are the fee your guests pay, the contract, and whether anyone does the work for you. Owner.com charges guests 5% on every plan. Menufy is the lowest published flat price. AZ takes no percentage from anyone and runs ordering as one part of a system that also answers the phone and the tables.

The honest part

Where they beat us, and where we are different

Where competitors are stronger

  • Owner.com is a polished all-in-one with a published price, a branded app, 24/7 support and month-to-month terms. For many restaurants it is a good answer, and we will say so.
  • Menufy has one of the lowest flat prices with a named success manager and no per-order commission.
  • Square Online is free to start. If you are on Square and just need a menu that takes orders, try it first.
  • These vendors serve thousands of restaurants. Our ordering app is proven in one, our own.

What AZ does differently

  • No percentage on any order, from you or from your guest.
  • One menu everywhere. Change a price in Clover and the website, the app, the table QR and the phone host all follow. Say "Kung Pao is off" once and it is off everywhere.
  • Guests in their language. The menu reads in English, Urdu, Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Arabic and Spanish.
  • Outcome first. We tie the work to direct orders moving off the apps, and we use Owner.com or ChowNow instead if that fits you better. We take no vendor commission either way.

Questions owners ask

What is the cheapest commission-free online ordering for a small restaurant?

On published prices in October 2026: Square Online has a free plan (you pay card processing), Menufy lists $149 a month on a 12-month agreement or $179 month-to-month, ChowNow plans start around $229 to $249 a month plus 2.95% and 29 cents per order, and Owner.com is $249 a month plus a 5% restaurant fee or $499 flat. Cheapest is not always best: look at the fee your guests pay too.

Does Owner.com charge guests a fee?

Yes. Owner.com's pricing page says guests pay a 5% order support fee on both plans. The Flexible plan also charges the restaurant 5% per order; the Flat Rate plan at $499 a month does not.

Which online ordering works with Clover?

Owner.com lists a native Clover integration. BentoBox now says it is part of Clover and sells new products only to Clover POS customers. Clover also has its own online ordering. Toast Online Ordering needs Toast, and Square Online works with Square. AZ's ordering app reads the live Clover menu, so prices and sold-out dishes follow the register.

Is AZ cheaper than Owner.com?

We do not publish a price list, so we will not claim that. What is different: we take no per-order percentage from you or your guests, you keep everything we build, and the ordering app is one part of a connected system that also runs the phone and the tables.

Do I still need DoorDash and Uber Eats?

Usually yes, for discovery. The goal is to move repeat guests to your own ordering, where you keep the margin, while the apps keep bringing new people in.
